Dr. Laura Barbulescu is a senior project scientist at the Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. As a postdoctoral fellow and then a project scientist at Carnegie Mellon, Dr. Barbulescu has designed, developed and analyzed scheduling algorithms for various applications. She has also developed and integrated constraint-based search and heuristic optimization techniques in a system that assists human planners to efficiently allocate resources to airlift requirements. Dr. Barbulescu received her Ph.D. in Computer Science (2005) from Colorado State University; her thesis focused on developing and analyzing algorithms for allocating antennas to satellite contacts for the Air Force Satellite Control Network.
